Text message program: ResQBand emergency alerts

Western Allergy sends text messages from 1 866 283 6110 for one purpose: to alert the emergency contacts of a ResQBand card owner when their card is tapped. Here is exactly how it works.

Who sends the messages

Western Allergy Services Ltd., Victoria BC, Hamilton ON, St. John's NL. ResQBand and this website are operated by Western Allergy. Messages are sent from our toll-free number 1 866 283 6110 and every message names Western Allergy.

How a contact opts in

  1. A ResQBand card owner registers their card at getresqband.com/activate and lists up to two emergency contacts, confirming they have permission to do so and that Western Allergy will text those contacts.
  2. Each contact receives one text from Western Allergy asking them to reply YES:
    "Western Allergy: Sam added you as an emergency contact for their ResQBand epinephrine card. Reply YES to receive emergency alert texts from Western Allergy when the card is tapped (includes the helper's location). Msg frequency varies. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help."
  3. Only contacts who reply YES are enrolled. A contact who does not reply, or who replies STOP, never receives an alert.

What enrolled contacts receive

A confirmation when they reply YES, and an alert only if the card is tapped and the helper presses the alert button:
"Western Allergy ResQBand alert: someone tapped Sam's emergency card and may be helping them now. Location: https://maps.google.com/?q=48.43,-123.36 Call them or 911. Reply STOP to opt out."

Message frequency varies and is normally zero; alerts are sent only in an emergency. Message and data rates may apply.

Opting out and getting help

Reply STOP to any message to opt out immediately. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at info@westernallergy.com or 1 866 335 5294. Card owners can remove a contact at any time from their registration link.

Privacy

Contact names and mobile numbers are stored only to send these alerts and are never sold or shared with third parties for marketing. Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See our privacy policy and terms.
