Questions

Are there food allergy support groups in Canada?

Yes. Food Allergy Canada lists local groups in several provinces and has a starter kit if there's none near you, and its Allergy Pals and Allergy Allies programs pair kids 7 to 15 with trained mentors online. Allergies Québec runs small online groups in French, and FARE's support group finder covers Canada too.

Is there support for teens with food allergies?

FARE's Teen Talks are monthly online hangouts for ages 11 to 22, and FAACT runs a yearly teen retreat. Food Allergy Canada's Allergy Allies mentorship is for ages 12 to 15.

What if I need more than a support group?

If worry about allergies is taking over daily life, a food allergy-informed therapist can help. Our anxiety and mental health page lists a directory of them.

Knowledge helps. So does a plan for the moment it matters.

A tap on the ResQBand Tap Card opens your emergency steps and a Call 911 button on most phones, and the helper can alert your emergency contacts with one more tap. The kit adds a tracker, a temperature disc and a thermal pack for your epinephrine.

The ResQBand kit on a red studio set: the Wrist Band with the black Tap Card, the Thermal Pack with the red Tap Card and two epinephrine auto-injectors, two neffy devices, the Forget-Me-Not Epi Tracker and the Temp-Alert Disc

General information, not medical advice. We link to other organizations' resources; we don't control them, and a listing isn't an endorsement. Something out of date or missing? Email info@westernallergy.com. In an emergency, use epinephrine and call 911.
